Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-10-18
This policy explains how Tibr — the mobile app and the gettibr.com website — collects, uses and protects your data. By using Tibr you agree to this policy. For any question contact us at [email protected].
Data we collect
- Account data: name, mobile number, email, country and password (stored hashed; nobody can read it). With Google or HUAWEI ID sign-in we only receive your name, email and profile photo.
- Merchant data: store name, logo, address and branches, working hours, products with photos and prices, and subscription payment receipts.
- Location (optional): only if you allow it, to show nearby stores. You can turn it off in your device settings anytime.
- Photos and camera: only the photos you choose to upload (product photos, logo, profile photo, receipts, or a photo to search with). Image search is analysed on your device.
- Chats: messages between you and merchants or friends inside the app.
- Usage data: products you view, like or save and your searches, to improve suggestions. Technical data such as device type, notification token and IP address for security.
- Your device's Advertising ID and general technical data collected by our ad provider (Google AdMob, or HUAWEI Ads in the Huawei edition via the OAID) to show and measure ads — see the "Advertising" section below.
- The "My expenses" feature (expenses, debts, jamiya and installments and their reminders) is stored on your device only and is never sent to our servers or anyone else.
How we use your data
- Running your account, showing products and stores, connecting buyers with merchants and booking store visits.
- Sending notifications you care about (messages, gold price alerts, subscription status) — you control them in notification settings.
- Managing merchant subscriptions, payments, the referral programme and Tibr points.
- Protecting the platform: preventing fraud, fake accounts and abuse, and handling reports.
- Improving the platform and suggesting products you may like.
Who we share data with
- We do not sell your personal data.
- Merchants: when you message a merchant or book a visit, they see your name and what you send. Store and product details are public.
- Service providers we rely on to run the platform only: hosting (Hostinger), Google/Firebase services (sign-in, chats, notifications), Google AdMob (ads), Google Play (in-app merchant subscriptions), and, in the Huawei (AppGallery) edition of the app, Huawei Mobile Services (HUAWEI ID sign-in, Push Kit notifications, HUAWEI Ads, and HUAWEI IAP for merchant subscriptions), and online payment gateways when you pay online (card details are entered with the gateway directly and we do not store them).
- Authorities when required by law.
Advertising
- The app shows ads from Google AdMob, which help us keep the service free for buyers. Ads appear in specific places (between products and on the prices and tools pages) and Tibr can turn them off.
- To show and measure ads and prevent fraud, Google may collect your device's Advertising ID, IP address (approximate location), device type and OS, and your interactions with ads. This data is governed by Google's privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy.
- We do not share your name, number, email, chats or "My expenses" data with the ad provider.
- You can opt out of personalised ads, or reset or delete your Advertising ID, in your device settings: Settings → Google → Ads.
- In the Huawei (AppGallery) edition, ads are served by HUAWEI Ads, and Huawei may collect the Open Advertising ID (OAID) and similar technical data, governed by Huawei's privacy statement: consumer.huawei.com/privacy-policy. You can turn off personalised ads or reset the OAID in: Settings → Privacy → Ads and privacy.
Data retention
We keep your account data while your account is active. Products are removed automatically after the set period (currently 120 days from the last renewal) and their images are deleted from our servers a few days later.
When you delete your account we delete or anonymise your personal data, keeping only what the law requires (such as payment records) for the required period.
Your rights
- Access and edit your data from inside the app.
- Delete your account permanently in the app: Account → Edit profile → Delete account, or by email to [email protected] (see the Account deletion page).
- Turn off notifications or location permission anytime.
- We follow the personal data protection laws of every country where we offer our services (including Egypt's Personal Data Protection Law No. 151 of 2020); contact us for any request about your data.
Security
We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), passwords are stored hashed, and receipts and private files open only through signed links for their owners. No system is 100% secure, so keep your password private.
Children
Tibr is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect children's data.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We will publish the new version here with its date and notify you in the app of any significant change.
